The Gallery on the new website is composed entirely of member submitted photos. We do hope that everyone would like to share their work with their fellow ATHA members. Whether you are new to rug hooking, or a long-time hooker, we believe we all have something to share with each other, and that is the strength of our organization.
When a photo is submitted, an alert is sent to our photo processing web support person, Deb Burcin, who will review the photo and help with size, cropping, or color enhancing your photo to help it be the best it can be for sharing with each other. If Deb needs something before the photo is approved, she will send you an email. Otherwise, you can expect that it will be available to be displayed to other members within the week (or even faster!)
For members who are logged in, all submitted and processed photos are viewable (most recently submitted is shown first). This way, if you regularly return to the site, you can see the newly submitted photos since you last looked. Also, when looking at a photo, you will be able to see the details about the mat, including who hooked it, the pattern name, pattern designer, cut size, and other details that the submitter would like to share. Photos will also be searchable via selected tags. For example, you can filter so that you only see animal photos.
For users who are NOT logged in, only the most recent 20 photos will be viewable, and non of the details other than the pattern title will be accessible. Our intent is to share our hooking work, but also to encourage potential members to join. As a non-profit, ATHA needs your support.
Photo Submission Instructions:
Navigate to the Gallery Page of the website.
Click on the red SUBMIT A PHOTO button
The following data entry form is displayed. Notice that some fields are marked as Required fields. if these fields are not completed, the rug submission process will not work, and you would have to re-enter all of the photo data.
On the form, The following fields are required:
- Pattern Name
- Who Hooked it
- Pattern Designer – preferably the name of the designer other than the company name.
- Pattern Type (Original Design, Commercial Pattern, or adaptation)
- Rug Photo – When you select “Choose File”, you will be able to select a photo from your phone, tablet, or PC. Note that some file sizes are too large to be accepted by our system. If this occurs, please try to choose a “smaller” version of the file or contact us via email (photos@atharugs.com) so we can assist.
Other fields that are desired, but not required for your submission are the following:
- Project Details (Traditionally Hooked, Punched, or Other)
- Cut Size
- Project Size
- Project Description – this is the best part! Tell us about your mat!
- Tags – If you are unsure what to select, choose one, or leave it blank. We will likely apply additional tags to your submissiont to enhance the search options for users looking at the Photo Gallery.
When all the data has been entered, click on the red SUBMIT button at the bottom of the form:
After selecting the Submit button, if your submission is successful, you will see the following message on your screen.
If your submission is unsuccessful, you will see this message:
If this occurs, you will likely need to resubmit your photo, since there was something wrong. If you need more detailed help, please let us know by sending an email to photos@atharugs.com
