Chapter History
The Brandywine Rug Hooking Guild became Chapter 83 of ATHA in October of 2001. Thanks to the efforts of “Brandywine’s” founder Janet Stanley Reid and a small band of her followers. Janet taught a beginning rug hooking class in a county adult learning program. This eager group wanted to continue hooking after the sessions had ended and took turns hosting in their homes. Interest swelled and the group found its first official meeting place at the Chester County Historical Society. The guild held elections, inducting its first board who decided to join ATHA. The guild has grown into an active group in region 2 and is celebrated for hosting an autumn hook-in since 2005.
