Our organization represents the combined talents, creative energy and resources of thousands of fiber artists across the globe; and exists to help people express themselves through fiber art.
In 1979, Peg Hansen founded the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists, (ATHA) to promote interest in the art of rug hooking. Over 45 years later, ATHA has a membership of 4000 members and over 80+ chapters nationwide.
ATHA’s purposes are to:
- Encourage – creativity of rug hookers to express their talents freely
- Educate – rug hookers to various techniques in rug hooking.
- Exchange – ideas and information within the rug hooking community.
- Expand – community awareness of the art of rug hooking
